2017 ASAR General Election Information

The current terms of ASAR Officers expire on June 30, 2017. Under the terms and conditions of the ASAR Constitution, elections must be held no later than May 15th. Please click on the title above for information regarding the election as well as candidates' statements.

SAANYS - K-12 Building Principal Award

Sheelarani Webster, kindergarten-12 principal of the World of Inquiry School #58 in the Rochester City School District, has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 K-12 Building Principal Award by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS).

New York State Council for Social Studies Leadership Award

Steve LaMorte will be presented with a Special Award for Leadership by the New York State Council for the Social Studies (NYSCSS) at their annual convention in Albany. This honor is bestowed on Steve to recognize his statewide efforts to further social studies education and to celebrate his leadership in NYSCSS. In addition to his work locally here in Rochester and Monroe County, Steve has been a member of the New York State Education Department’s Content Advisory Panel, where he helps to shape state-wide education policy; he conducts workshops and professional learning throughout NY, and also represents the interests of social studies on NYSED’s ESSA Think Tank. Previously, Steve was named Outstanding Social Studies Supervisor in 2014 by the New York State Social Studies Supervisory Association and was a recipient of the Outstanding Classroom Teacher award from the Rochester Area Council for the Social Studies in 2008.
