Every 20 years the people of the Empire State are asked a seemingly simple ballot question; “Shall there be a convention to revise the constitution and amend the same?

It is well known that teachers do not get into the field of education for the fame or fortune. People that become teachers typically have a desire to positively impact the lives of children for various reasons. A principal that provides consistency, trust and support will create a culture in which teachers are able to fulfill their dreams to touch the lives of youth.

President-elect Donald Trump hasn't picked an education secretary yet, and he didn't talk a great deal about schools on the campaign trail. But his triumph in the election already has radically altered the prospects for various K-12 groups in the next several years, both inside Washington and out. So with the dust still settling after the Nov. 8 results, who looks set to prosper under the Trump presidency, and who's going to be tempted to put on sackcloth and ashes for a while? We've provided a list below—let us know if you think any group is missing or miscategorized.

The Rochester International Academy, a city school that mostly serves refugees, was one of eight schools in the country to be named a Gold School of Opportunity, intended to honor programs that help close the opportunity gap in education.

Parents, teachers, and staff at School 1 knew that their school was scheduled to get work done soon — part of a $1.3 billion districtwide overhaul. They did not know, however, that the district was considering combining School 15 with their school. The proposal was made earlier this year, but nobody told them. "It just fell through the cracks," says school board member Willa Powell. "No one knows why." They finally did learn of the proposal at a meeting earlier this month.
